TASMANIA In 2012, there were 13 victims of homicide recorded in Tasmania. In 2012, there were 106 victims of sexual assault recorded in Tasmania. More than four in five victims were female (84% or 89 victims). Among total victims of sexual assault 79% (83) knew their offender, including 34% (36) with an offender who was a family member. Victimisation was most likely to be experienced at a residential location (73% or 77 victims). There were 3,450 victims of unlawful entry with intent recorded in Tasmania in 2012. Property was taken in 77% (2,665) of cases. There were 1,341 victims of motor vehicle theft recorded in Tasmania in 2012. The largest proportion of motor vehicle thefts occurred at a residential location (46% or 619 victims), followed by a community location (42% or 563 victims). A retail location was the site of victimisation in 6% (75) of cases.
