NAME OF COLLECTION

Vocational Education and Training Provider Collection

OVERVIEW

The Vocational Education and Training Provider Collection is an administrative collection of information compiled by the National Centre for Vocational Education Research (NCVER) through a joint initiative of the Australian, state and territory governments. The Vocational Education and Training Provider Collection contains information about activity in the publicly funded vocational education and training (VET) system in Australia. This system provides training across a wide range of subject areas and is delivered through a variety of training institutions and enterprises. VET aims to provide students in Australia with the technical skills and knowledge they require to enter the workforce for the first time, to re-enter the workforce, to retrain for a new job or to upgrade their skills for an existing job.

Reporting to the collection is required by all training organisations receiving public funding for the delivery of VET programs. Information is collected annually on VET students and programs related to activities in the previous year for each state and territory and for Australia.

The Vocational Education and Training Provider Collection is compiled under the Australian VET Management Information and Statistical Standard.
