GROUP 45 – OTHER CULTURE AND LEISURE SERVICES

Group 45 Other culture and leisure services consists of units mainly engaged in promoting a range of community, social, hobby and other sectional interests. It also includes religious organisations. It consists of the following classes:

      451 Interest clubs and groups;
      452 Religious organisations; and
      459 Culture services n.e.c.

451 INTEREST CLUBS AND GROUPS

Definition

This class consists of units mainly engaged in providing leisure activities where the focus is on a common interest. Examples are animal breeding and showing clubs; collectors' clubs; community service clubs; and associations, leagues or clubs providing an opportunity to play or compete in board, card and strategy games. This class also includes youth development groups and organisations which manage individual festivals and fairs not included elsewhere in the classification.


Exclusions / References

Units mainly engaged in:

(a) operating historical societies or National Trust organisations, which maintain a collection of artefacts and/or original objects, (or operate a historic place, site or house) are included in Class 112 Other museums;

(b) operating film or video festivals are included in Class 265 Motion picture exhibition;

(c) operating individual other arts festivals are included in Class 279 Arts n.e.c.;

(d) organising games mainly involving physical activity are included in Class 322 Other sports and physical recreation venues, grounds and facilities or Class 332 Sports and physical recreation clubs, teams and sports professionals;

(e) operating hospitality clubs for members are included in Class 433 Hospitality clubs;

(f) representing groups or individuals in the culture and leisure sectors through a business, professional or labour association are included in Class 464 Culture and leisure business, professional and labour associations; and

(g) operating political parties, automobile associations, societies for the prevention of cruelty to animals, accident prevention associations and emergency services are out of scope of the classification.

452 RELIGIOUS ORGANISATIONS

Definition

This class consists of units mainly engaged in operating religious organisations for worship or for the promotion of religious activities.


Exclusions / References

Units mainly engaged in providing education or operating hospitals, charitable homes, etc. are out of scope of the classification.

459 CULTURE SERVICES N.E.C.

Definition

This class consists of units mainly engaged in providing culture services not included elsewhere in the classification.


Exclusions / References

Units mainly engaged in:

(a) operating historical societies or National Trust organisations, which maintain a collection of artefacts and/or original objects, are included in Class 112 Other museums;

(b) operating film or video festivals are included in Class 265 Motion picture exhibition;

(c) operating other arts festivals are included in Class 279 Arts n.e.c.;

(d) representing groups or individuals in the culture and leisure sectors through a business, professional or labour association are included in Class 464 Culture and leisure business, professional and labour associations;

(e) providing translating and interpreting services and included in Class 469 Culture and leisure support services n.e.c.; and

(f) operating political parties, automobile associations, societies for the prevention of cruelty to animals, accident prevention associations and emergency services are out of scope of the classification.
