Standard output categories 22. The standard output categories may include the supplementary code if applicable:
23. It should be noted that the term 'Persons' is used in preference to 'Total'. 24. In some settings (eg. perinatal collections, hospital morbidity collections) it may also be appropriate to use the category 'Intersex or Indeterminate' (see topic Classification and Coding). Since numbers for this category are likely to be very low, most collections will amalgamate this category with 'Not Stated/Inadequately Described'. 25. The terms 'men', 'women', 'boys', 'girls', etc. should not be used as labels for output categories. These items do not have universally accepted or agreed upon definitions and thus may confuse the user. For the purposes of data integration, and compatibility it is preferable that all data classified by sex be labelled 'Males' and 'Females' in output.
