REPEAT OFFENDERS

During 2007-08, the majority (76%) of all offenders were proceeded against by police on one occasion. A further 13% were proceeded against by police on two separate occasions. Offenders proceeded against by police on five or more separate occasions during 2007-08 comprised 4% (128 offenders) of all offenders.

There were more male offenders than female offenders who were proceeded against more than once during the reference period (26% compared to 20% respectively).

Female offenders aged 10-14 years and 25-29 years were proceeded against on average 1.8 times per offender during 2007-08, compared to 1.5 times for all offenders; the highest for any age groups.
