It has been revised to reflect changes in the religious profile of Australia since the first publication in 1996. The ASCRG is used in coding Census data and is recommended for use by other government and non-government organisations. The new edition contains seven new religious group categories, whilst one religious group category from the first edition has been removed. The Expanded Structure and coding indexes have been updated accordingly. The review processes and resultant changes are explained in detail.
