REMOTE ACCESS DATA LABORATORY
The Remote Access Data Laboratory (RADL) provides improved access to ABS microdata. The ABS now supports a range of methods for accessing microdata in the form of confidentialised unit record files (CURFs), including the newly-developed Remote Access Data Laboratory (RADL). The RADL allows approved clients access to extended CURF data at their desktop via a secure Internet link. Strengthened legal and administrative arrangements will also place greater responsibility on individual users to personally sign and observe the terms and conditions under which the microdata is disclosed. The 2001 National Health Survey will be the first CURF to be available through the RADL from late March 2003. For more information on the RADL contact Mike Jones on (02) 6252 5698, email: mike.jones@abs.gov.au.
