Provides valuable information in the analysis of family formation in Australia. This electronic product presents at the national and state level, registered marriages by age, previous martial status, country of birth of bridesgroom and bride, category of celebrant and cohabitation prior to marriage. Crude and age-specific marriage rates are also provided.
For the first time the marriages collection has been sampled. Some states and territories are fully enumerated, while larger states have been sampled.
This product replaces Marriages and Divorces, Australia (cat. no. 3310.0). Divorces data from 2002 onwards can be found in the new electronic product Divorces, Australia (cat. no. 3307.0.55.001).
