MIGRATION AND YOUNG PEOPLE IN NEW SOUTH WALES
Demography NSW (cat. no. 3311.1.55.001) was released on 22 February and includes a special article on Migration and Young People in NSW. This article provides an overview of the population change, migration and mobility of young people in NSW. The population of young people in NSW has grown since 2000. As this cannot be solely explained by 'natural increase', migration must be considered a key factor. In NSW, one in four young people reported changing their usual residence between 2000 and 2001. During the same period NSW also had a net interstate migration loss of young people, but gained over 17,000 young people who were resident overseas in 2000. This article is an electronic product available on the ABS web site free of charge.
