NATIONAL ABORIGINAL AND TORRES STRAIT ISLANDER HEALTH SURVEY
The 2004-05 National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Survey (NATSIHS) is currently in the field. The survey will collect information from approximately 11,000 Indigenous persons on health status, risk factors, health related actions and other social and demographic characteristics. The survey aims to collect information to inform policy development and debate in both health and population health. Survey information will also enable comparisons with the non-Indigenous population and the exploration of linkages between health and population characteristics. Enumeration will conclude in July 2005, with initial results to be released early 2006. For further information contact Mark Lound on (02) 6252 5781, email mark.lound@abs.gov.au.
