PERSONAL INCOME, TAXATION AND INCOME SUPPORT DATA
The Information Paper: Experimental Estimates of Personal Income for Small Areas, Taxation and Income Support Data, 1996-97 to 2000-01 (cat. no. 6524.0) will be released in October. It will present experimental estimates of sources of income and broad indicators of average, after tax (disposable) income of the population for each state and territory by various ASGC levels including Local Government Areas.
The estimates, covering the years 1996-97 to 2000-01, have been compiled using a combination of individual income tax data from the Australian Taxation Office and income support customer data from the Commonwealth Department of Family and Community Services. Data from the 1996 and 2001 Censuses of Population and Housing are also used to derive simple broad indicators of average household disposable income.
