Helping schools to access the latest in census information
The Census KeyData Education Toolkit is an innovative way of giving schools easy access to a package of 1996 Basic Community Profiles and reference data such as the Directory of Census Statistics.
The Basic Community Profile covers 22 geographic areas including Australia, all States and Territories, all capital city metropolitan areas and capital city CBD's plus five standard areas of the schools' choice.
This valuable school resource enables staff and students to view a range of census data such as population figures, employment details, ethnicity data and information on religion in a matter of moments.
Curriculum support material, intended to be used in conjunction with Community Profile tables on the Census KeyData Education Toolkit CD-ROM, can be accessed through the ABS internet site at https://www.abs.gov.au. The material was prepared by the ABS' National Education Services Unit. It is aimed at middle secondary school students (Years 9 and 10) and covers a broad range of topics using 1996 Census data.
Primary and secondary schools are entitled to special discounts, offering them a cost effective way of providing their students with the latest information on Australian society.
For more information call the National Education Services Unit on 1800 623 273 or (03) 9615 7041 if you are calling from within the Melbourne metropolitan area.
