INDIGENOUS SOCIAL SURVEY
The Pilot Test for the first Indigenous Social Survey (ISS) was conducted between 29 October and 7 December. A Dress Rehearsal will be conducted in May 2002 with the National survey in the field in late 2002. The survey will provide a range of information relating to the social, economic and cultural participation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. It will allow the exploration of relationships between issues such as health, housing, education and employment. The ISS will also share a number of data items with the 2002 General Social Survey (GSS) of all Australians and the 1994 National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Survey (NATSIS).
