Apples are the most important fruit crop in Tasmania. In 2004-05, Tasmanian farmers produced 45,500 tonnes of apples.

The four most common varieties of apples produced in Tasmania in 2004-05 were:

  • Golden delicious (8,400 tonnes)
  • Fuji (7,400 tonnes)
  • Delicious - striped red (7,000 tonnes)
  • Gala (5,000 tonnes)

In 2004-05, two thirds of all apples produced in Tasmania came from the Southern Statistical Division (30,400 tonnes).
