Selected Characteristics for Urban Centres and Localities.
The Selected Characteristics for Urban Centres and Localities series (Cat nos. 2016.0-7), released on 18 March 2003, covers a range of social and housing statistical information. The publications incorporate first and second release data using the Urban Centre/Locality (UC/L) and Section of state geographical classifications. These classifications are based on population density with Localities containing 200-999 people and localities containing 1000 people or more.
Each of the tables in Selected Characteristics for Urban Centres, Australia (Cat. no. 2016.0) rank the top 200 Urban Centres for selected data items. There are, for example, rankings by population size and proportion of employed persons.
The State and Territory publications primarily consist of comparative tables for person, family and household characteristics for UC/L and Section of State areas.
*Data for ACT is included in the NSW publication and Christmas and Cocos Islands are included in the WA publication.
