In 2002, the assault victim rate was 866.1 per 100,000 persons in the Northern Region. This was an increase from the 2001 rate of 804.6 and the 2000 rate of 595.1. The rate of sexual assault victims also increased in 2002, with 51.6 victims per 100,000 persons, compared to the 2001 rate of 43.6 and the 2000 rate of 32.3.

The rate of unlawful entry with intent in the Northern Region decreased, with 1,417.0 per 100,000 persons recorded in 2002, compared to 1,541.5 in 2001 and 1,962.6 in 2000.

In 2002, the rate of victims of motor vehicle theft was 415.4 per 100,000 persons. This was a decrease from the 2001 rate of 614.5 and from the 2000 rate of 631.2.
