Newstart Mature Age Allowance assists older long-term unemployed people facing difficulties obtaining work.
At 1 June 2001, the local government area of Break O'Day had 7.2 Mature Age Newstart recipients per 1,000 persons. Tasmania recorded a rate of 2.7 recipients per 1,000 persons.
