According to Tourism Tasmania's Tasmanian Visitor Survey, an estimated 652,200 visitors arrived by scheduled airline flights and Bass Strait ferries in 2002-03. Of these, 527,800 (80.9%) visited Greater Hobart, while 71.1% stayed at least one night in the region. Some 43.3% of scheduled air or sea visitors stayed at least one night in the Greater Launceston region.
