Division 5 - Non-Oriented Research, covers R&D which contributes to the general advancement of knowledge. This division should only be used when no specific purpose under any of the other divisions can be identified.

This division can only include R&D which is `pure basic research'; i.e. R&D efforts which are undertaken to acquire new knowledge without any specific application or looking for long term benefits other than the advancement of knowledge. It has only one group.
