DEPENDANTS AGED 15 TO 24 YEARS
DEPENDANTS AGED 15 TO 24 YEARS A child aged 15-24 years is a dependant if they are aged 15-19 years and still attending school or aged 15-24 years and attending a tertiary institution full-time. They cannot be a dependant if they have a partner or child of their own usually resident in the household. The proportion of families where the youngest dependant was aged between 15 and 24 years has increased over the past seven years, from 17% of families with dependants in 2005 to 20% in 2012. In 2012, 74% were couple families.
