Overseas arrivals decreased 98 per cent in June 2020, compared with June 2019, according to provisional data released today by the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS).

ABS Director of Migration Statistics, Jenny Dobak said: "Although arrivals to Australia increased from 19,400 in May to 25,800 in June, this was still down 98 per cent from the levels seen this time last year."

"This continues to reflect the overall low levels of travel observed since travel restrictions were first introduced in response to the global COVID-19 pandemic."

Nearly two out of three (65 per cent) arrivals in June were Australian or New Zealand citizens, similar to the proportion seen in May (69 per cent).
