Almost all Census Forms collected: Did we miss anyone?

The Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) has advised that census collectors have almost finished the nationwide collection of over nine million Census forms.

Head of the census programme, John Struik, today thanked the community for their cooperation in completing the statistical picture of Australia, at the same time praising the work of census field staff.

"They have done an excellent job, working through extremes of weather from the northern dry to gale force winds and blizzards in the south east," he said. "With the wonderful support of the community their task should be completed ahead of schedule."

The ABS is advising any householders whose forms have been inadvertently overlooked and not collected to contact the ABS via the website, at www.abs.gov.au/census, or by calling the Census Inquiry Service on 137 219. The Service is open 8:30am - 10:00pm.

In addition to the Census Inquiry Service on 137 219, a telephone interpreter service is available by dialling 137 206. The Telephone Typewriter facility to assist people with hearing impairments can be reached by phoning 137 201. The census public information website is available at www.abs.gov.au/census.
