	Mining Plant Operator

Operates equipment to excavate, load and transport coal, ore and rock either underground or in open-cut mines.

Skill Level:
The entry requirement for this occupation is an AQF Certificate II or higher qualification or at least 1 years relevant experience. Registration or licensing may be required.

Tasks Include:

operates surface or underground mining equipment
monitors the performance of equipment and adjusts controls
communicates with other operators to coordinate earthmoving operations
performs routine maintenance functions
undertakes development work such as opening up new shafts, drives, airvents, rises, winzes or crib rooms
completes log sheets detailing operations during shifts
operates equipment using electronic controls, sensors and monitors
