Queensland's tropical and subtropical climate makes it Australia's main producer of a variety of cereal crops, citrus, tropical and exotic fruits and vegetables for human consumption. The normally moist summer conditions, compared with the relatively dry summers in other states, have contributed to a considerable increase in the production of summer-growing crops such as grain sorghum, peanuts, sunflowers and soybeans.
