The National Criminal Courts Data Dictionary seeks to maximise comparability of criminal courts statistics within and across criminal courts collections. National data items are defined and methods for the use of data elements and concepts are outlined.

The first version of the National Criminal Courts Data Dictionary defines national data items and outlines methods for the use of 27 data elements and concepts that underpin the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) and Council of Australian Governments (COAG) criminal courts collections.
