Retail turnover rises 0.2% in October 2011
The latest ABS Retail Trade figures show that Australian retail turnover rose 0.2% in October 2011, seasonally adjusted, following a rise of 0.4% the previous month.
Turnover rose in Food retailing (0.5%), Clothing, footwear and personal accessory retailing (1.2%), Household goods retailing (0.2%) and Cafes, restaurants and takeaway food services (0.2%). Turnover fell in Other retailing (-0.4%) and Department stores (-0.7%).
Turnover rose in Western Australia (1.6%), Victoria (0.6%), South Australia (0.2%) and the Northern Territory (0.7%). Turnover fell in Queensland (-0.3%), Tasmania (-1.2%), New South Wales (-0.1%) and the Australian Capital Territory (-0.7%).
Trend turnover rose 0.3% in October 2011. This follows a rise of 0.4% in September 2011 and a rise of 0.3% in August 2011.
