Music and Performing Arts

Measures the number, variety and dollar value of Australia's symphony orchestras, chamber and choral groups, theatre, opera and music theatre, dance and performing arts organisations. Organisations were only included in the survey if, during the reference year, they received a Government (Commonwealth, State, local government or Australia Council) grant of $500 or more, or employed or contracted any persons, or received income amounting to $50,000 or more. Principal users of the data are the ABS' National Culture and Recreation Statistics Unit and the Cultural Ministers Council.

• financial and employment data
• performances
