DESCRIPTION
Measures of Australia's Progress presents a number of indicators to measure how Australia is progressing in the following dimensions:
- individuals
- the economy and economic resources
- the environment
- living together.
Indicators of education and training are mainly included under the first of these dimensions. Indicators of education and training cover the attainment of formal non-school qualifications, and the level of participation in education and training, including:
- education participation rates of persons aged 15-64
- year 7/8 to year 12 apparent retention rate of (by sex and Indigenous status)
- human capital stock by education qualification
- level of highest non-school qualification of persons aged 25-64
- average literacy scores of secondary school students in reading, mathematics and science
- Indigenous to non-Indigenous attainment ratios
- female students as a proportion of all students.

The headline indicator is the proportion of the population aged 25-64 with a vocational or higher education qualification.
