DESCRIPTION

Measures of Australia's Progress presents a number of indicators to measure how Australia is progressing in the following dimensions:

    • individuals
    • the economy and economic resources
    • the environment
    • living together.
Indicators of education and training are mainly included under the first of these dimensions. Indicators of education and training cover the attainment of formal non-school qualifications, and the level of participation in education and training, including:
    • education participation rates of persons aged 15-64
    • year 7/8 to year 12 apparent retention rate of (by sex and Indigenous status)
    • human capital stock by education qualification
    • level of highest non-school qualification of persons aged 25-64
    • average literacy scores of secondary school students in reading, mathematics and science
    • Indigenous to non-Indigenous attainment ratios
    • female students as a proportion of all students.

The headline indicator is the proportion of the population aged 25-64 with a vocational or higher education qualification.
