DECEMBER KEY POINTS
ORIGINAL ESTIMATES
- In original terms, December 2014 imports on an international merchandise trade basis were $21,314m, a decrease of $78m on the revised November 2014 merchandise imports of $21,392m.
PRELIMINARY BALANCE OF PAYMENTS GOODS IMPORTS
- Preliminary analysis shows that goods debits (imports) on a balance of payments basis in original terms fell $553m (2%) between November and December 2014.
- In seasonally adjusted terms, goods debits fell $233m (1%) between November and December 2014 to $21,849m. Intermediate and other merchandise goods fell $296m (3%) and capital goods fell $8m. Non-monetary gold rose $53m (22%) and consumption goods rose $17m.
REVISIONS
- Revisions have been made to the previous six months to incorporate the latest administrative data relating to international merchandise trade.
- The preliminary balance of payments debits estimates incorporate the latest available data.
