OCTOBER KEY POINTS
ORIGINAL ESTIMATES
- In original terms, the October 2010 merchandise imports were $17,678m, a decrease of $665m (4%) on the September 2010 merchandise imports of $18,343m.
PRELIMINARY BALANCE OF PAYMENTS GOODS IMPORTS
- Preliminary analysis shows that goods debits (imports) on a balance of payments basis in original terms decreased $633m (3%). In seasonally adjusted terms goods debits decreased $565m (3%) from $17,618m in September 2010 to $17,053m in October 2010. Intermediate and other merchandise goods fell $411m (5%) with the fuels and lubricants component down $196m (9%), consumption goods fell $111m (2%) and non-monetary gold fell $48m (8%). Capital goods rose $5m.
