Trend estimates: Short-term visitor arrivals during May 2015 (613,600 movements) increased 0.6% compared with April 2015 (609,900 movements). This followed monthly increases of 0.9% in March 2015 and 0.7% in April 2015. The current trend estimate for arrivals is 7.0% higher than in May 2014.
Seasonally adjusted estimates: During May 2015, short-term visitor arrivals (606,800 movements) decreased 0.5% compared with April 2015 (609,700 movements). This followed a monthly increase of 2.6% in March 2015 and a monthly decrease of 1.5% in April 2015.
Original estimates: There were 483,000 short-term visitor arrivals to Australia in May 2015.
SHORT-TERM RESIDENT DEPARTURES FROM AUSTRALIA
Trend estimates: Short-term resident departures during May 2015 (776,600 movements) decreased 0.1% compared with April 2015 (777,300 movements). This followed a monthly increase of 0.2% in March 2015 and no change in April 2015. The current trend estimate for departures is 2.5% higher than in May 2014.
Seasonally adjusted estimates: During May 2015, short-term resident departures (766,100 movements) decreased 0.9% compared with April 2015 (773,200 movements). This followed a monthly increase of 2.1% in March 2015 and a monthly decrease of 2.1% in April 2015.
Original estimates: There were 744,200 short-term resident departures from Australia in May 2015.
