• Trend estimates: Short-term visitor arrivals during April 2012 (508,300 movements) increased 0.5% compared with March 2012 (506,000 movements). This followed monthly increases of 0.4% in February 2012 and 0.4% in March 2012. The current trend estimate for arrivals is 5.7% higher than in April 2011.
• Seasonally adjusted estimates: During April 2012, short-term visitor arrivals (509,200 movements) recorded a decrease of 0.5% compared with March 2012 (512,000 movements). This followed monthly increases of 1.1% in February 2012 and 1.9% in March 2012.
• Original estimates: There were 466,600 short-term visitor arrivals to Australia in April 2012.

• Trend estimates: Short-term resident departures during April 2012 (673,600 movements) increased 0.7% compared with March 2012 (669,200 movements). This followed monthly increases of 0.7% in February 2012 and 0.7% in March 2012. The current trend estimate for departures is 5.6% higher than in April 2011.
• Seasonally adjusted estimates: During April 2012, short-term resident departures (675,000 movements) decreased 0.3% compared with March 2012 (677,000 movements). This followed a monthly decrease of 1.1% in February 2012 and an increase of 2.9% in March 2012.
• Original estimates: There were 664,700 short-term resident departures from Australia during April 2012.
