This expanded Confidentialised Unit Record File (CURF) from the survey of Labour Force and Other Characteristics of Recent Migrants provides selected information about the labour force status and other characteristics of recent migrants. For the purposes of this survey, recent migrants are defined as people who were born overseas, arrived in Australia after 1997, were aged 15 years and over on arrival, and have permanent resident status. Information is also provided for people who were temporary residents who planned to stay in Australia for 12 months or more. The type of information available includes: initial and current visa type; initial and current residency status; non-school qualifications before and since arrival; main field of non-school qualifications before and since arrival; labour force status; length of time before finding employment; whether occupation before arrival is the same as current occupation; number of jobs held since arrival; difficulties experienced in finding work; help received in finding a job; and demographic characteristics.
