NOVEMBER KEY POINTS
SHORT-TERM VISITOR ARRIVALS TO AUSTRALIA
- Trend estimates: Short-term visitor arrivals during November 2012 (527,100 movements) increased 0.8% compared with October 2012 (522,800 movements). This followed monthly increases of 0.9% in both September and October 2012. The current trend estimate for arrivals is 5.5% higher than in November 2011.
- Seasonally adjusted estimates: During November 2012, short-term visitor arrivals (528,400 movements) recorded an increase of 0.8% compared with October 2012 (524,000 movements). This followed monthly increases of 0.6% in both September and October 2012.
- Original estimates: There were 556,200 short-term visitor arrivals to Australia in November 2012.
SHORT-TERM RESIDENT DEPARTURES FROM AUSTRALIA
- Trend estimates: Short-term resident departures during November 2012 (689,100 movements) increased 0.1% compared with October 2012 (688,400 movements). This follows monthly increases of 0.1% in both September and October 2012. The current trend estimate for departures is 5.2% higher than in November 2011.
- Seasonally adjusted estimates: During November 2012, short-term resident departures (696,800 movements) increased 2.5% compared with October 2012 (679,700 movements). This followed a monthly increase of 1.4% in September 2012 and a monthly decrease of 1.8% in October 2012.
- Original estimates: There were 641,500 short-term resident departures from Australia during November 2012.
