ESTABLISHED HOUSE PRICES
Quarterly Changes
- Preliminary estimates show the price index for established houses for the weighted average of the eight capital cities increased 3.2% in the December quarter 2007. The increase in the September quarter 2007 was also 3.2%.
- The capital city indexes all rose this quarter - Adelaide (+6.0%), Brisbane (+5.4%), Canberra (+4.4%), Hobart (+3.7%), Melbourne (+3.4%), Sydney (+2.4%), Darwin (+2.3%) and Perth (+0.9%).
- The movement in the established house price index between June and September quarters 2007 has been revised from a preliminary estimate of an increase of 3.5%, to an increase of 3.2%.
ANNUAL CHANGES (DECEMBER QUARTER 2006 TO DECEMBER QUARTER 2007)
- Over the year to December quarter 2007, preliminary estimates show that the price index for established houses for the weighted average of the eight capital cities rose 12.3%.
- Annually, the capital city indexes all rose - Brisbane (+21.6%), Adelaide (+20.2%), Melbourne (+18.1%), Canberra (+14.3%), Hobart (+11.1%), Darwin (+11.1%), Sydney (+8.0%) and Perth (+1.1%).
- The movement in the established house price index between September quarters 2006 and 2007 has been revised from a preliminary estimate of an increase of 10.6%, to an increase of 10.8%.
