NOVEMBER KEY POINTS
TOTAL NEW MOTOR VEHICLE SALES
Trend estimates: The November 2012 trend estimate (96 655) has increased by 0.6% when compared with October 2012.
Seasonally adjusted estimates: The November 2012 seasonally adjusted estimate (95 748) increased by 31 units (0.0%) when compared with October 2012.
SALES BY TYPE OF VEHICLE
Trend estimates: When comparing national trend estimates for November 2012 with October 2012, sales of Passenger vehicles increased by 1.2%, while sales of Sports utility vehicles decreased by 0.5%. Over the same period Other vehicles increased by 0.4%.
Seasonally adjusted estimates: When comparing seasonally adjusted estimates for November 2012 with October 2012, sales of Passenger vehicles increased by 2.8%, while sales of Sports utility vehicles decreased by 5.4%. Other vehicles increased by 0.5% over the same period.
SALES BY STATE
Trend estimates: Seven of the eight states and territories experienced an increase for new motor vehicle sales when comparing November 2012 with October 2012. Tasmania recorded the largest percentage increase (3.5%), followed by Western Australia (1.1%). Over the same period the Northern Territory decreased by 0.2%
Seasonally adjusted estimates: Four of the eight states and territories experienced an increase in new motor vehicle sales when comparing November 2012 with October 2012. Tasmania recorded the largest percentage increase (7.3%), followed by the Australian Capital Territory (5.1%) and Queensland (1.8%). Over the same period, the Northern Territory recorded the largest percentage decrease (2.1%).

DATA NOTES
The flooding which occurred in Thailand in from June 2011 may have had an impact on new vehicle sales in Australia due to associated delays in delivery of Thai manufactured vehicles and vehicle parts. The impacts from the flooding is no longer affecting the supply of new motor vehicles to Australia from Thailand.
