29/02/2008 Note: 2006 Basic Community Profile has been re-issued to correct an error in Table B02 for the following geographical areas: Postal Area (POA), Commonwealth Electoral Division 2004 (CED), State Electoral Division (SED), Statistical District (SDI), Statistical Region Sector (SRS). The data for Average Household size now includes decimals. No other tables or geographic areas have been changed.

The Community Profile Series contains six separate profiles aimed at providing information on key Census characteristics relating to persons, families and dwellings and covering most topics on the Census form. The profiles are excellent tools for researching, planning and analysing small and large geographic areas. They enable comparisons to be made between different geographic areas. The profiles which will be available for the 2006 Census will be: Basic Community Profile (BCP), Place of Enumeration Profile (PEP), Indigenous Profile (IP), Time Series Profile (TSP), Expanded Community Profile (XCP) and the Working Population Profile (WPP).

Basic Community Profile

The Basic Community Profile (BCP) is the primary profile. It consists of 45 tables containing key Census characteristics on persons, families and dwellings. The data are based on place of usual residence. The BCP will be released in two phases. First release tables are those containing classifications which are relatively easy to process and will be available on release day. Second release tables contain classifications which require more complex processing and will be available on the second release day.

All
Community Profiles are available on the ABS Website, or through the ABS Consultancy Service.
