• In original terms, April 2013 imports on an international merchandise trade basis were $18,687m, an increase of $607m (3%) on the revised March 2013 merchandise imports of $18,080m.

• Preliminary analysis shows that goods debits (imports) on a balance of payments basis in original terms rose $789m (4%) between March and April 2013.
• In seasonally adjusted terms, goods debits rose $118m (1%) between March and April 2013 to $20,017m. Capital goods rose $733m (16%), with civil aircraft and confidentialised items up $303m (167%) and capital goods n.e.s. up $254m (29%). Non–monetary gold rose $67m (18%). Intermediate and other merchandise goods fell $354m (4%) and consumption goods fell $327m (6%).

• Revisions have been made to the previous six months to incorporate the latest administrative data relating to international merchandise trade.
