FEBRUARY KEY POINTS
ORIGINAL ESTIMATES
- In original terms, the February 2013 merchandise imports were $17,871m, a decrease of $1,085m (6%) on the revised January 2013 merchandise imports of $18,956m.
PRELIMINARY BALANCE OF PAYMENTS GOODS IMPORTS
- Preliminary analysis shows that goods debits (imports) on a balance of payments basis in original terms fell $1,562m (8%) between January and February 2013.
- In seasonally adjusted terms, goods debits fell $241m (1%) from $20,717m in January 2013 to $20,476m in February 2013. Capital goods fell $253m (4%) with civil aircraft and confidentialised items down $132m (45%) and capital goods n.e.s. down $124m (9%), and non-monetary gold fell $32m (9%). Intermediate and other merchandise goods rose $41m and consumption goods rose $3m.
REVISIONS
- Revisions have been made to April 2010, June 2010, December 2010, September 2011, May 2012, and August 2012 to January 2013 to incorporate the latest administrative data relating to international merchandise trade.
- The preliminary balance of payments debits estimates incorporate the latest available data.
