NOTES CHANGES IN THIS ISSUE There are no changes in this issue. DOMESTIC AUSTRALIAN TABLE WINE SALES: Trend TABLE WINE, GLASS CONTAINER < 2 LITRES The trend series for sales of white table wine in glass containers of less than 2 litres increased 1.2% on January 2004, but decreased 0.9% on February 2003. The trend series for red and rosé wine sales in glass containers of less than 2 litres increased 0.6% on January 2004 and 0.6% on February 2003. TABLE WINE, SOFT PACK CONTAINERS The trend series for domestic sales of white table wine in soft packs increased 0.7% on January 2004 and 2.4% on February 2003. The trend series for red and rosé wine in soft packs decreased 0.3% on January 2004 and 0.2% on February 2003. TOTAL WHITE AND RED/ROSÉ TABLE WINE The trend series for total sales of white table wine increased 0.8% on January 2004 and 1.5% on February 2003. The trend series for total red and rosé wine increased 0.1% on January 2004 and 0.7% on February 2003. EXPORTS OF AUSTRALIAN PRODUCED WINE AND IMPORTS EXPORTS OF AUSTRALIAN PRODUCED WINE In original terms, 46.8 million litres of Australian produced wine valued at $189.4 million were exported in February 2004, an increase of 22.4% in quantity and 20.5% in value on January 2004. The average value of Australian wine exported in February 2004 was $4.04 per litre, down from $4.73 per litre in February 2003. WINE IMPORTS CLEARED FOR HOME CONSUMPTION In original terms, 1.0 million litres of wine were imported, down 14.1% in quantity and 18.1% in value on January 2004. The average value of wine cleared for home consumption in February 2004 was $7.38 per litre, down from $8.14 per litre in February 2003. DISPOSALS OF AUSTRALIAN PRODUCED WINE AND WINE AVAILABLE FOR CONSUMPTION IN AUSTRALIA The original data for the December quarter 2003 shows that wine available for consumption in Australia increased 0.7% on the same quarter in 2002. Domestic sales of Australian wine increased 2.2%, but wine imports decreased 25.1%. Total disposals of Australian produced wine increased by 2.0% on the same quarter in 2002 with exports also increasing by 1.1%.
