• In original terms, April 2014 imports on an international merchandise trade basis were $20,226m, a rise of $506m (3%) on the revised March 2014 merchandise imports of $19,720m.

• Preliminary analysis shows that goods debits (imports) on a balance of payments basis in original terms rose $702m (3%) between March and April 2014.
• In seasonally adjusted terms, goods debits rose $510m (2%) between March and April 2014 to $22,683m. Capital goods rose $398m (8%) and consumption goods rose $192m (3%). Intermediate and other merchandise goods fell $72m (1%) and non-monetary gold fell $6m (2%).

• Revisions have been made to the previous six months to incorporate the latest administrative data relating to international merchandise trade.
• The preliminary balance of payments debits estimates incorporate the latest available data.
