Trend estimates

  • From May 2003 to May 2004 the number of public sector employees increased by 41,100 (2.7%) to 1,558,500.
  • In the same period the number of employees increased in state government by 3.0%, in local government by 2.5% and in Commonwealth government by 1.3%.
