• In original terms, the September 2010 merchandise imports were $18,332m, an increase of $923m (5%) on the August 2010 merchandise imports of $17,409m.

• Preliminary analysis shows that goods debits (imports) on a balance of payments basis in original terms increased $928m (5%) in September 2010. In seasonally adjusted terms goods debits increased $350m (2%) from $17,384m in August 2010 to $17,734m. Non-monetary gold rose $333m and Intermediate and other merchandise goods rose $185m (2%) with the fuels and lubricants component up $229m (11%). Capital goods fell $167m (4%) and consumption goods fell $1m.
