AUGUST KEY POINTS
ORIGINAL ESTIMATES
- In original terms, the August 2010 merchandise imports were $17,441m, a decrease of $1,295m (7%) on the July 2010 merchandise imports of $18,736m.
PRELIMINARY BALANCE OF PAYMENTS GOODS IMPORTS
- Preliminary analysis shows that goods debits (imports) on a balance of payments basis in original terms decreased $1,264m (7%). In seasonally adjusted terms goods debits decreased $1,215m (6%) from $18,799m in July 2010 to $17,584m in August 2010. Intermediate and other merchandise goods fell $1,052m (12%) with the other merchandise goods component down $457m (82%) and the fuels and lubricants component down $308m (13%). Capital goods fell $127m (3%), non–monetary gold fell $78m (22%) while consumption goods rose $42m (1%).
