FEBRUARY KEY POINTS
SHORT-TERM VISITOR ARRIVALS TO AUSTRALIA
- Trend estimates: Short-term visitor arrivals during February 2013 (526,200 movements) decreased 0.2% compared with January 2013 (527,400 movements). This followed monthly increases of 0.5% in December 2012 and 0.4% in January 2013. The current trend estimate for arrivals is 4.6% higher than in February 2012.
- Seasonally adjusted estimates: During February 2013, short-term visitor arrivals (520,600 movements) recorded a decrease of 0.7% compared with January 2013 (524,300 movements). This followed a monthly increase of 2.0% in December 2012 and a monthly decrease of 2.4% in January 2013.
- Original estimates: There were 604,600 short-term visitor arrivals to Australia in February 2013.
SHORT-TERM RESIDENT DEPARTURES FROM AUSTRALIA
- Trend estimates: Short-term resident departures during February 2013 (689,800 movements) did not change compared with January 2013 (689,800 movements). This follows monthly increases of 0.1% in both December 2012 and January 2013. The current trend estimate for departures is 3.3% higher than in February 2012.
- Seasonally adjusted estimates: During February 2013, short-term resident departures (686,700 movements) decreased 0.1% compared with January 2013 (687,700 movements). This followed a monthly increase of 0.5% in December 2012 and a monthly decrease of 1.1% in January 2013.
- Original estimates: There were 501,000 short-term resident departures from Australia during February 2013.
