ABOUT THESE STATISTICS

This publication provides the next update of the experimental price indexes for financial services which were published in ABS Cat. no. 6413.0 Information Paper: Experimental Price Indexes for Financial Services, 1998 to 2003. Latest March Quarter 2005 has been added to the time series.

June Quarter 2005 will be the final issue of this publication. In September Quarter 2005, Financial Services will be introduced into the Consumer Price Index. For further information please see the Appendix in the March Quarter 2005 issues of Consumer Price Index, Australia (Cat. no. 6401.0).

EXPERIMENTAL PRICE INDEXES FOR FINANCIAL SERVICES

  • rose 0.3% in the March quarter 2005, compared with 0.2% in the December quarter 2004.
  • fell 0.2% through the year to March quarter 2005.
