RECORDED CRIME - VICTIMS Victims of theft There were 539 motor vehicle theft victims per 100,000 ACT residents in 2004. The victimisation rate of other theft for the ACT was 2,574 per 100,000 residents. Unlawful Entry with Intent The total number of victims of unlawful entry with intent recorded in the ACT was 5,202 in 2004, similar to the 2003 number (5,238). Of these, 4,580 involved the taking of property. Victims of unlawful entry with intent Robbery In 2004 the number of victims of recorded robberies in the ACT increased by 8% (from 202 to 218) relative to 2003. The number of victims of armed robbery increased 56% from 68 to 106, while the numbers of victims of unarmed robbery decreased by 16% from 134 to 112, the lowest level recorded since 1996. Victims of robbery - rate per 100,000 persons The total robbery victimisation rate per 100,000 people in the ACT was 67.
