Value of work done, Chain volume measures - Trend estimates

• The trend estimate for the value of total engineering construction work done rose by 2.7% in the March 2009 quarter.
• The seasonally adjusted estimate for the value of total engineering construction work done fell 3.3%, to $17,006.1m, in the March quarter.

• The trend estimate for the value of work done for the private sector rose by 1.7% in the March quarter.
• The seasonally adjusted estimate for the value of work done for the private sector fell 6.0% in the March quarter to $10,396.9m.

• The trend estimate for the value of work done for the public sector rose by 4.0% in the March quarter.
• The seasonally adjusted estimate for the value of work done for the public sector increased by 1.2%, to $6,609.2m, in the March quarter.

• The value of work commenced in the March quarter was $14,537.8m, a fall of 22.1% from the December 2008 quarter.

• The December quarter work done estimates have been revised upwards by $95.6m. These revisions occurred predominantly in 'Other Heavy Industry' in New South Wales.
