SEPTEMBER KEY POINTS

TREND ESTIMATES

  • The trend estimate for the number of cattle slaughtered rose slightly to 679,200. This was the sixth consecutive monthly increase.
  • The trend estimate for the number of sheep slaughtered fell for the fifth consecutive month, down 3% to 881,100.
  • The trend estimate for the number of pigs slaughtered fell slightly to 449,600. This was the sixth consecutive monthly decrease and the lowest monthly estimate since November 2001.
