TREND ESTIMATES

  • The trend estimate for calf slaughterings fell for the fifteenth consecutive month, to 65,800. This was the lowest figure recorded since records began in July 1979.
  • The trend estimate for lamb slaughterings rose for the eighth consecutive month, to 1.5 million. This was the highest figure recorded since January 2002.
  • The trend estimate for pig slaughterings rose for the fourth consecutive month, to 452,700.
